Delhi / field guide

Delhi: the briefing starts before the invitations.

Decide whether the news is about Delhi, a Union ministry, or an all-India market before building the media list.

A Delhi announcement may need to speak to a national policy beat, the city administration, or a neighbourhood affected by a decision. Those are different rooms and different invitation lists.

A four-part Delhi run of show

  1. 01 / field note

    Define the authority

Name the organisation making the announcement and the person who can answer policy or product questions.

  2. 02 / field note

    Separate the audiences

National policy, Delhi civic, business and specialist desks should receive different reasons to attend.

  3. 03 / field note

    Confirm access

Send precise entry instructions, security requirements and a working media contact with the invite.

  4. 04 / field note

    Close factual gaps

Release documents, quotes and a clear record of unanswered questions after the event.

Build the media list from the story

For a public-policy brief, record the approving authority, legal or programme document, and who may answer questions. For a corporate launch, make the effect on customers or the market concrete. Prepare an English fact sheet and a Hindi version when the audience calls for it. Check names, numbers and terms against a single approved source. Akashvani News Services Division is one documented local research source; see its own page ↗. That does not mean it will accept an invitation or run a story.

The room and invitation must agree

Central Delhi is useful for policy reporters; Aerocity suits travelling speakers. The right room depends on the people who need to reach it, not the postcode alone. Allow for security, accreditation and traffic around official districts. Do not imply that a private event qualifies for government press-room access. Include the address, start and end time, speaker names, interview opportunity, accessibility details and a working press contact. Test sound and any remote feed before journalists arrive. Review the Delhi venue notes.

What to send after the event

An approved release with date and contact details.

A fact sheet with figures and source documents.

Captioned images or video only with the right permissions.

Answers to open questions and a correction contact.

PRS can coordinate these steps within an agreed scope. Start at the Delhi enquiry form or start briefing now.
