How to use this directory

Start with the place affected by the news.

Government communications, commercial launches and public-interest briefings have different source documents and media audiences. Select a state or union territory, then identify the decision maker, the affected districts and the city where journalists can ask useful questions.

  1. Pick the jurisdiction and likely briefing centre.
  2. Check the official source for public-sector claims.
  3. Share the story, date, audience and constraints in the Start briefing now form.

A government press release is evidence of an announcement, not proof that an in-person press conference occurred.

Research note / 26 October 2026

How many press conferences happen in each state?

We could not verify a consistent, statewide count across all 36 jurisdictions. Public sites publish press releases, notices and videos in different formats; these are not a count of press conferences. We therefore do not publish an invented estimate. For a specific study, fix a date range, define what counts as a conference, request records from the relevant information departments and deduplicate multi-city events.
