Scope agreed in writing. People at every step.

Searches for “ecb press conference live” and “ecb live press conference” look for the European Central Bank's own broadcast. The ECB press-conference page is the single place that holds it, together with the decision press release, the statement with questions and answers, the webcast and the archive material.

What the ECB press-conference page carries

  • The latest monetary policy press conference, with the date, time and venue shown on the page, and links to previous and upcoming events.
  • The decision press release, the monetary policy statement with Q&A, and a short visual statement that explains the decision in plain language.
  • The webcast player, an alternative player version, a low-latency audio stream, satellite downlink parameters for broadcasters, HD footage for TV stations and a photographs link.

If you are a journalist

The ECB's own instruction on that page is to email its press office at least ten working days before the event to register for the next press conference. Confirm the current rule and address on the page itself, because the ECB publishes it as a service rule rather than an accreditation scheme; it is the only one of the major institutions we checked that publishes a registration instruction for its press-conference room.

The ECB's broadcast

The ECB streams its Governing Council press conference on its official YouTube channel. The current event is always listed on the ECB press-conference page.

What is published in writing

The ECB does not publish a verbatim transcript of the press conference. The written record is the decision press release, the monetary policy statement and the visual statement, so quote those and treat any video summary as secondary.
